– “DOL to Hold Public Hearings on REAL ID Markings”
“The Department of Licensing will hold six public hearings this month in different locations across the state on the proposed marking of standard driver licenses and identification cards in compliance with the 2005 federal REAL ID Act. Beginning July 1, the DOL will start marking all standard driver licenses and ID cards with the phrase, “federal limits apply.”

By October 2020, all states must comply with the REAL ID Act, which requires the marking of identification documents that are not compliant with REAL ID regulations. Once the 2020 deadline passes, standard driver licenses and ID cards will no longer be accepted for boarding commercial airplanes and entering certain secure government facilities,” quoting South Sound Business.
