…AIR QUALITY ALERT IN EFFECT FOR WESTERN WASHINGTON FROM 10 AM TODAY TO 5 PM PDT WEDNESDAY…
An Air Quality Alert for smoke has been issued by the following agencies:
Washington State Department of Ecology,
Northwest Clean Air Agency,
Olympic Region Clean Air Agency, [Thurston’s air quality agency]
Puget Sound Clean Air Agency, and
Southwest Clean Air Agency.
Unhealthy air will become common across the area due to smoke from large wildfires in British Columbia and on the east slopes of the north Washington Cascades. Some improvement in ventilation is expected late Wednesday. Children, the elderly, and individuals with respiratory illnesses are most at risk of serious health effects. If you experience respiratory distress, you should speak with your doctor.
