– “200 JBLM soldiers to join battle against raging Western wildfires”
“Two hundred active-duty soldiers from Joint Base Lewis-McChord are being mobilized to help with the fight against wildfires raging throughout the West.
“The National Interagency Fire Center in Boise, Idaho, requested the soldiers, along with command and support staff, to assist in the firefighting efforts.
“The 14th Brigade Engineer Battalion at Joint Base Lewis-McChord was chosen to provide the 200 troops. The soldiers will be organized into 10 crews of 20 people each, all of whom will be sent to the same wildfire, which is in the process of being identified.
“Currently, more than 127 wildfires are burning on about 1.6 million acres in California, Oregon, Washington, Idaho, Utah, Nevada, Montana, Wyoming, Colorado, Arizona and Alaska,” by KOMO Staff, TV 4, Seattle, in the Seattle PI.
