– Editor’s Note:
On September 11th, Yelm Schools Superintendent Brian Wharton will be a guest speaker at the Yelm Chamber luncheon and be present at a joint Yelm city council/Yelm schools board meeting. He will be joined by Rainier Schools Superintendent Byron Bahr at the Chamber function.
The schools, their taxpayers and voters would benefit greatly if the superintendents would conduct a joint Town Hall public forum at least twice a year to share ideas on how their constituents can get involved in their schools. A public forum is the best way to communicate directly with the taxpaying voters they want to step-up and approve their levies and bonds, rather than to only the select few attending the council and chamber functions at the beginning of the school year, many of those not residing in their voting districts.
