Phoenix Rising School (PRS) abruptly shuttered Sept. 28th

– From the Phoenix Rising School Board of Directors:
“It is with great sadness that we let you know about the closing of the Phoenix Rising School. Our staff, parents and Board have worked tirelessly over the years to increase enrollment and raise the needed funds to keep going, but there just are not enough funds to do so. Our decision is strictly a financial one.

“Throughout the summer we all worked to increase enrollment, to increase awareness of the school in the community, to raise funds and to write grants. We started the school year knowing we would drain all funds on hand by the holiday break. And yet the staff and board made the decision together to keep going. It was ‘hope’ and passion for the school and the children that kept us going…thinking that by some miracle we could make it work. That passion continues but the funds do not.

“We are closing our classroom doors on Friday September 28, 2018. And yes this is abrupt but we felt that, in the best interest of the children, having them settled in another school setting at the beginning of the academic year was best for them.”

“Tuition covers 30% of our expenses. The rest comes from generous donors and fundraising efforts.”

Blogger Klein has been an annual scholarship donor since the founding of PRS.

  1. Very sad news for the students, the community and the FUTURE. I am so grateful to you for all you have done for Phoenix’s children over the years. What a gift for so many to have had so much financial help to attend this beautiful school.
