Yelm may finally be rid of single-use plastic bags after all –
Washington state lawmakers seek plastic bags ban.

While Yelm’s city council oversees the largest major Thurston County municipality that has not voted to ban single-use plastic grocery bags, the state may soon intervene on this issue here.


– “Washington state lawmakers call for ban on plastic bags”
“A bill announced Wednesday [Nov. 28] would prohibit the use of single-use plastic carryout bags and require a charge of 10 cents on all paper carryout bags.

“Currently, 19 cities in Washington have plastic bag bans in place, including Seattle, Tacoma and Edmonds. Kenmore most recently approved a ban that takes effect on Jan. 1,” by The Associated Press.
