  • Editor’s note: This is disheartening news, as that makes one less candidate for public office from which voters will choose. While the August Primary had three candidates for Position 1, Mr. Blair will still be on those ballots as they are in preparation and due to be sent to Yelm voters in 2 weeks. Though Blair ran for city council previously and lost, he ran an aggressive, issues-oriented campaign. His 2019 candidacy was expected to raise pertinent issues of the city’s overspending and lack of transparency. This blogger wishes Mr. Blair and his family well and thanks him for bringing his mind to city issues. THANK YOU for being willing to serve and adding your voice in our town, James.

Yelm Council candidate James Blair withdraws candidacy via Facebook:

“Due to personal reasons, effective immediately I am suspending campaign activities.

“I apologize to anyone I am letting down. My name will still be on the ballot. I still have the same passion for our town. However, I must commit 100% of my attention at home at this time. Pending results of the Primary, I will update you all on how I will be moving forward.

“Best of luck to EJ Curry for Yelm City Council and Lanakila Washington YELM City Council, Position 1, 2019 in August!”
