- Editor’s note: So many Blog readers have asked about a Life Celebration for Nancy Hillman, so I am pleased to post this information.

“Dear Friends of Nancy Hillman in the Yelm/Rainier Community:
“We will be gathering at the Triad Theater at 7PM this Sunday, July 21st, after the close of her show “Giving” (how appropriate!), to have a Theater Shiva for my mom. A shiva, in the Jewish tradition, is where we gather to mourn and honor our deceased loved ones by sharing our grief and stories. A Theater Shiva, I’ve just decided, is where we do all of that and also sing show tunes when we want to, which is without question how my mother would do it.
“If you are part of her local community, please feel free to come and join. Please bring some food to share, and something to drink. For those who are not local, please don’t feel you need to fly in. We will be honoring, memorializing, and celebrating her in New York and possibly LA as well, since that is where many of her other family and friends live. This is just what we are moved to do here and now, and it feels right. We know she will love it. Come let’s be together to celebrate her and enjoy the beautiful community she loved so much.“
