2 Yelm & Rainer high school boys arrested for social media memes about bombs

“Social media post about bombs, grenades results in two teens’ arrest”

“Two teens who admitted posting a meme on social media that included comments about grenades, bombs and even a caption: “notices weird kid taking out AR-15,” were arrested in Thurston County, officials said.

The Thurston County Sheriff’s Office said a parent called about 11 p.m. Wednesday to report that her daughter had observed the “concerning” comments on Instagram.

” Deputies contacted a 15-year-old boy from Rainier High School and a 16-year-old boy from Yelm High school who both admitted to putting up the posts and claimed they were a joke, officials said.”

The Sheriff’s Office commended the teen who spoke up when she saw the post and comments,” by KIRO-7 TV News, Seattle.
