‘Graduate Together’: Barack Obama tells class of 2020, ‘This is your generation’s world to shape’
“Thanks to the coronavirus pandemic, high school seniors may not be able celebrate their graduation by walking across the stage, but they can say they had former President Barack Obama speak at their commencement.
“Obama addressed graduates on Saturday during “Graduate Together: America Honors the High School Class of 2020,” an hour-long special during which big-name celebrities, like LeBron James, the Jonas Brothers and Bad Bunny, came together to help homebound high schoolers celebrate their accomplishment.
“The 44th president acknowledged that graduating is already a big milestone especially given certain obstacles that some seniors have had to overcome – and that’s not even counting a global pandemic.”
“On Friday, a star-studded virtual event, #Graduation2020, went live on Facebook Watch streaming to more than 50,000 Facebook users. Former “Office” co-stars Mindy Kaling and B.J. Novak hosted the show, which acknowledged every high school and college in every state and shared stories and inspiration from graduates, parents, principals and more.
