Washington Post Quote
The Washington Post quote, “If a business is still closed at this point in the crisis, it’s probably permanent” reinforces my belief that the knee jerk response to covid-19 has permanently harmed our national economic health. Instead of implementing a well planned mitigation approach of hygiene, social distancing, and masks at the start of this pandemic, we waited too long without a clear cut nationwide scientific plan and we fell behind the curve. Let’s face it covid-19 is deadly. As a last resort we shut down everything. Isn’t that like throwing the baby out with the bathwater? How about some logic and common sense.
However other countries the world over shut down, as well, yet most did “implement a well planned mitigation approach of hygiene, social distancing, and masks at the start of this pandemic,” and are re-open and thriving. Gosh, even Italy who acted late is now on top of this and doing well. The EU, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, Taiwan, and South Korea come to mind. I agree, we not only “waited too long without a clear cut nationwide scientific plan and we fell behind the curve,” yet we still have no “clear cut nationwide scientific plan,” and no Presidential leadership for this crisis.
Do I hear an Amen!
