To mask or not to wear a mask? Never even entered my thoughts.I live in PNW, I am a U.S. citizen. I have been in Europe (Germany) since the outbreak began. I have worn a mask in public and quietly observed social distancing as well as doing the work. I have observed the others in this village do the same as a united front socially against this virus. It has been with the understanding that nobody wants to be responsible for doing harm to their neighbors. Personal responsibility is part of being truely compassionate in ones actions with caring about how popular you are. One can not be narcissistic and hope to be a effective respected leader.Im excited to be able to come home soon yet concerned about those who are mistaking their freedom to express themselves without taking into consideration how their action could potentially impact others.
Thank you for your comment and observation Armeta. The E.U., UK, Canada, Australia, New Zealand and many others have all embraced the concepts that you have so eloquently articulated. Unfortunately, not so here. There has been little to no national, Presidential leadership from the top down for Americans to look for guidance, as in previous wars and crises, and this IS a war of sorts. The mask issue has been observed by businesses here in Yelm, as well. This lack of following known working protocols is why the cases are rising exponentially across America and here in Thurston County. Looking forward to your return.
