In Robert Paxton’s THE ANATOMY OF FASCISM, he asks whether fascism is possible today. He answered that it depends on one’s understanding of fascism and that it would not likely resemble the repugnant fascism of Hitler and Mussolini. He lists five stages that he sees as necessary for its revival: “1)the creation of movements – [Make America Great Again]; 2. the rooting in political systems – [Trump Republican Party]; 3. their seizure of power [Senate control of all legislation]; 4. the exercise of power; 5. and, finally, the long duration, during which the fascist regime chooses either radicalization or entropy.” The brackets are my observations.
I think we have achieved three of the five stages. God help us!
