Reward Offered After Damaged Windows, Possible Explosive Device at Fresh Start Site in McKenna
“Transitional Housing Facility Has Drawn the Ire of Some Residents as it Plans to Open Soon”
“Fresh Start Housing LLC, the program provider and property owner, is offering a $5,000 reward for information leading to “the arrest and/or conviction” of individuals involved in the vandalism and placement of a potential incendiary device.
“John Green, managing member of Fresh Start Housing, said the first incident occurred on Sept. 10 when someone put what is believed to be an explosive device at the facility, which is located near the intersection of 95th Avenue and 357th Street.”
“The program was subject to a great deal of scrutiny and conspiracy theories this summer after misinformation spread online about the intent of the facility.”
“Despite that, Green said the outcry from the public in recent weeks has mostly simmered down as people seem to be more accepting of the program, which is looking to help those most vulnerable to homelessness and relapse through healthy and sober living.

I’ve been really disheartened by local attitudes toward the homeless and those struggling with addiction. It breaks my heart to see this happen to a facility that is making good use of a vacant building, and bettering the community with it’s purpose.
Fresh Start Housing LLC should have ran a story in the Nisqually Valley News once they acquired the property as to what they intend to use it for. If they have other facilities in the local area they should get with Nisqually Valley News and tell of their success in helping folks go from rock bottom to soaring on their own. By NOT telling their side of the story and the vision that they are working towards the push back will continue. Fear and ignorance is what is in play here and the only way to fight it is to get information out to the public.
