- Editor’s note: To be raised in a small or medium sized city in America in the 1960s, as I was in Louisville, KY., meant going to visit the windows of the local downtown Sears Roebuck & Co. store to get glimpses of the magic of Christmas. Wide-eyed children and eager adults came to see what the designers would craft each year.

I can’t believe they are gone forever. Where am I going to go now for Birthdays, Valentines, Christmas to mention only a few? And here in Yelm too, to make it even more painful. It was a beautiful experience for the senses.
I just found out JZ Rose has closed their doors. I traveled quite a ways to shop there, the store had class and wonderful employees. I will miss my visits.
