
From the Thurston County Auditor:
“The Thurston County Canvassing Board has certified the August 3, 2021 Primary Election. Final election results can be found at ThurstonVotes.org.
“The Thurston County Canvassing Board has also scheduled a recount for the Yelm City Council Position No. 4 Primary Election. Candidates Steffen Burney and Kayla Russell finished within the range requiring a mandatory hand recount to determine which candidate will move on to the General Election ballot. A hand recount occurs if the vote difference is less than 150 and less than ¼ of 1%.
“The total vote difference between the candidates was 1 and the percentage difference was .19%”
“The top two candidates in the Primary advance to the General Election in November.”
Recount Schedule
- Recount preparations will begin on Thursday, August 19, at 9 a.m.
- The recount will start on Friday, August 20, at 9 a.m.
- The Thurston County Canvassing Board will meet on Friday, August 20 at 4 p.m. to certify the results of the recount.
