Where is our moral imperative? ? I do not ask this rhetorically. I want to know. If those that stood by us as interpreters, journalists, military personnel, and others cannot be rescued from a sure fate of death and possible torture, then I say our moral imperative “to do the right thing” is lost. It was lost under the excuse of bureaucracy, of lack of strategic foresight and lack of tactical capabilities. It was lost in ‘fingering pointing.’
