WSP: I-5 closed between exits 88 & 68 due to flooding!
No short alternate routes to detour.
Delay travel if going south to Portland!

UPDATE: 1:35pm, I-5 now open, earlier than expected

From The Olympian:

A 20-mile-long stretch of Interstate 5 is closed in Thurston and Lewis counties after flood waters swamped the freeway.

The closure is between mileposts 68 and 88.”

“A similar stretch of I-5 was shut down during major flood in 2007.”

From the Washington State Patrol (WSP):

Lewis/Thurston CO – INTERSTATE 5 CLOSED – NB MP 68 & SB MP 88 – Crews have CLOSED I5 due to area flooding. Motorists should DELAY TRAVEL! No ETA for reopening!/No detour at this time! pic.twitter.com/y90iwHWyYK — Trooper Will Finn (@wspd5pio) January 7, 2022 Drivers have no detours or short alternative routes to get around the impasse. All passes through the Cascades of Washington are closed [Ed. note: potentially through Sunday].
