Barbra Streisand tuns 80 today!
Editor’s note: There has been a rare few singers in the genre of greatness like Frank Sinatra and Judy Garland, yet Barbra Streisand is among them. And today is her 80th birthday!
She has graced our national consciousness, our stages, screens and music players since the original Broadway production of ‘Funny Girl’ opened at the Winter Garden Theater in New York on March 26, 1964. “[Streisand] is the only person ever to receive all of the following: Oscar, Tony, Emmy, Grammy, Golden Globe, Cable Ace, National Endowment for the Arts, and Peabody awards, as well as the American Film Institutes Lifetime Achievement honor and the Film Society of Lincoln Center Chaplin Award” from IMDb.
Streisand was also selected to receive America’s highest award presented for contributions to the Arts: The Kennedy Center Honors. Click here for that December 2008 presentation.
And on her 80th birthday today, her thoughts are with the people of Ukraine, as posted on her official website.
