Thurston County Auditor Mary Hall Joins Election Center Board

Thurston County Auditor Mary Hall was recruited to serve on the Board of Directors of the National Association of Election Officials (also known as the Election Center). The Election Center is the premier election profession’s organization for election official’s education and national certification.  

“Auditor Hall has been a leader in the elections field and brings a level of on-the-ground experience that will be valuable to guide the future of our organization,” said Tim Mattice, Executive Director of The Election Center. “Mary has been on the forefront of elections the last few years as election offices have pivoted through turbulent times. Mary is often called on to present at national conferences”. 

Last year, Hall was named the Auditor of the Year by then Secretary of State Kim Wyman. Hall led her team to quickly open a drive-thru Voting Center on the campus of South Puget Sound Community College during the 2020 Primary and General Election. Hall also recently received the Washington Association of County Auditor’s President’s Award for Outstanding Service, and Heavy Hitter Award for her legislative efforts. 

Hall’s legislative record includes leading the effort to secure state funding for elections and expand access to the ballot. For years, while local jurisdictions paid their elections cost, the state did not pick up their share. Hall was instrumental in passing Same Day Voter Registration, expanding Automatic Voter Registration, Pre-registration, and Universal Registration. These tools made voting in Washington State the most accessible and secure in the country.
