K9 deputies Jaxx and Dexter retire from Thurston County Sheriff’s Office

From The Jolt News:

The Thurston Board of County Commissioners (BOCC) honored two retiring police dogs from the Sheriff’s Office…, August 30.

Jaxx and Dexter’s retirement from the Thurston County Sheriff’s Office (TCSO) after six years of service was described by TCSO Services Chief Jeff DeHan as a “bittersweet moment” for the force.

“They have been a tremendous asset to the TCSO family and the public that we serve,” said DeHan.

DeHan said the dogs have a total of 392 deployments and participated in 510 activities, including tracking, evidence searches, building searches and apprehensions. The dogs also found and captured a combined total of 250 suspects, solving more than 350 crimes in the county.

Dexter and Jaxx will enjoy retirement with their handlers, Deputies Nault and Bagby. Two new K9s in the force will replace them.
