Boeing Set to Add 10,000 Jobs in 2023 Amid Increased Production

Boeing, the American aircraft manufacturer headquartered in Arlington, Virginia, announced its plans last week to recruit 10,000 new employees this year as the company looks to bounce back from the impacts of the pandemic and ramp up aircraft production.

In 2022, the company saw an increase in overall employment, adding 14,000 employees to bring their total to 156,000 as of December 31st, 2022. This is up from 142,000 employees in 2021. Boeing currently employs 136,000 workers in the United States.

Boeing has announced that it will reduce staffing in certain support functions, a decision aimed at better utilizing its resources to enhance its current products and support technology development. However, the company has declined to comment on the number of job cuts it will implement in 2023.

Boeing is expecting significant growth in its business units, engineering, and manufacturing divisions, to keep up with the rising demand from airlines. The company has set a goal to increase deliveries of its 737 MAX aircraft from 374 in 2022 to between 400 to 450 planes in 2023 and is expecting to deliver between 70 to 80 787 aircraft as well.

As it continues to recover from the impacts of the pandemic, the American aircraft manufacturer, Boeing, is nearing its pre-pandemic workforce levels. At the end of 2019, the company employed 161,000 individuals. However, in 2020, amid job reduction announcements, the workforce shrunk to around 141,000 employees.
