I-5 traffic shutdowns continue, affecting Yelm’s residents and businesses

Now more than ever do we need to Yelm Loop and the McKenna roundabout completed.
With yesterday’s traffic from the I-5 shutdown as an example, I spoke with multiple legislators in Olympia today about the importance of completing our Yelm area transportation projects. Representative Barkis told me that is is being discussed in negotiations and that he is fighting tooth and nail for it.
Rep. Barkis has been one of Yelm’s biggest supporters in getting this Yelm Loop completed and he is constantly challenging WSDOT on their timeline and advocating for an earlier completion date.
I’ll give an update after the Legislative session is over when we should have a better idea on the timeline of the Yelm Loop after they pass the biennial transportation budget.
