As Thurston proclaims Women’s History Month, Edwards says Mejia brings ‘civility’ to the board
From The JOLT News:
The Board of County Commissioners (BOCC) officially proclaimed March as Women’s History Month.
Before formally reading the proclamation, Commissioner Gary Edwards stepped in and shared his take on the conversation to recognize Commissioner Carolina Mejia for helping mediate between him and Commissioner Tye Menser.
“Commissioner Mejia makes this board a more functional board,” said Edwards. “She mediates a few things here, maybe us with differing opinions like a couple of brothers… she brings that type of civility to our board.”
Mejia gladly responded to Edwards, “I appreciate that.”
Concurrent with the proclamation, the BOCC also recognized the 140th anniversary of the Women’s Club of Olympia.
