Yelm’s Schools Board chooses Chris Woods as next Superintendent

From Yelm Community Schools:

Yelm Community Schools Board of Directors is proud to announce Chris Woods as our new Superintendent, effective July 1, 2023. Thank you to all who provided feedback and attended to forums.

Subject to final contract negotiations and background checks and authorization of the Board President to work with the district’s legal counsel and search consultant to negotiate a mutually acceptable contract in accordance with the parameters established by the Board.

Yelm Community Schools has a history of success and works hard to build upon its strengths to provide the very best for students, staff, and families. I would be honored to join the dedicated and unified Yelm community in meeting the unique needs of every student. Together, we can ensure each family we serve receives the best possible service and that every student walks across the graduation stage.

Woods comes to Yelm from his most recent position as the chief executive officer of the Thurston County’s Boys and Girls Clubs.

Woods was the former principal of Capital High School, where he served for five years. He also served as Tumwater School District’s executive director of student learning and as assistant superintendent.

Congrats Chris on your selection as the next Superintendent of Yelm Community Schools. Folks may have seen him around town in his role as CEO of the Thurston County Boys and Girls Club. He’s always been helpful in my interactions regarding questions on the Yelm Branch.
