Lacey Timberland library receives $920,000 gift from former patron
Excerpt from The Olympian:
Lacey Timberland Library has received a $920,000 gift, one of the largest donations ever received by Timberland Regional Library, the executive director of the library system said last week.
The check was received this month from the estate of Rodney Maupin, a Thurston County resident who recently died. Executive Director Cheryl Heywood said the library was approached by the attorney handling his estate.
Maupin made the donation because his mother, Judy, who passed away before he did, said the Lacey library branch was one of her favorite places to visit.
And the Lacey library could receive even more money after his estate is wrapped up and sold, Heywood said. “We were told it could be thousands more,” she said.
