Nisqually Valley News receives accolades

Congratulations go to Nisqually Valley News (NVN) Editor & Publisher Keven Graves and his staff receiving a number of awards in the 2012 Washington Newspaper Publishers Association (WNPA) listed on this week’s front pages of the NVN.

Congratulations to all the winners in the Washington Better Newspaper Contest, listed in this spreadsheet. The awards were presented Sept. 28 during the Better Newspaper Contest Awards Dinner, held at the Garden Terrace of the Red Lion Hotel-Yakima Center.

Judging was by the New York Press Association.

Of 2,229 entries, 432 were in Advertising, 172 in Special Sections, 1,232 in News (includes Community Service), 358 in Photography, and 35 in the Web division. Of WNPA’s 103 regular members, 73 newspapers participated in the contest.

The contest period for most entries was April 1, 2011-March 31, 2012. For Tourism Special Sections, dates were June 1, 2011-May 31, 2012.

Group I: up to 2,750 circulation
Group II: 2,751 – 5,000
Group III: 5,001 – 12,750
Group IV: 12,751+
