Here we are again on this Groundhog Day looking at area Republicans pulling out their sword on Democratic County Auditor Mary Hall!
Thurston County and WA State Republicans are still “licking their wounds” from the stinging rebuke in the loss of their widely-thought-to-win candidate interim Thurston County Auditor Gary Alexander and his Deputy Yelm Mayor Ron Harding, the “Double Dippers.”
The moment Mary Hall looked to be the winner last November, the word started to circulate that Republicans were going to begin attacking Mary Hall to defeat her this November, as she was elected in 2013 to fill the last remaining year on the County Auditor’s vacated term. Republican Alexander was widely expected to be elected after being appointed to serve from January 2013 until the November 2013 election, with his Deputy Harding expected to then run for his position in November 2014. With Hall’s win however, all of those expectations went down the drain.
Now, not unexpected, the Republican-leaning organization “Freedom Foundation” has filed a lawsuit against County Auditor Mary Hall.
Interesting, I was the only one submitting an opposing voter guide comment to Republican Deputy Auditor & Yelm Mayor Harding’s Park Bond proposal on the ballot twice last year, which failed both times. I saw NO Freedom Foundation lawsuit against then-County Auditor Alexander’s handling of those voter guides, in not providing balance against several comments FOR the proposal.
Where were they then?
May I introduce the “Freedom” Foundation to the definition of the word: hypocrite.
In 2012, the “Freedom Foundation” made the headlines for their stories about the contributions by JZ Knight to Democratic candidates then running for public office and calling on them to return the contributions: County Commissioner, Legislative Representative & Congressional Representative.
I did not see Republican candidate Alexander return his ALEC-received donations, as example.
Look for this group and others to be aggressive in attempting to defeat Auditor Mary Hall this November.
Will be interesting to see just where Republican Yelm Mayor Ron Harding’s political career next has him aiming.
